Chilling Out at Coastal Taco

After a long, fun day at the Edgewater this week, we decided to find somewhere close by for dinner and brought our group of 2 adults and 6 kids to Coastal Taco in the Flats. We wanted a place where the grown-ups could grab a cocktail and the kids would be  entertained while we enjoyed it. Coastal Taco made the mark!

Here are 5 Reasons We Loved It:

1. Location. There is plenty of space at the bar and outdoor patio where you can watch paddlers during their evening workout coming up the river. The restaurants is situated under a bridge and has that perfect combination of water and industrial beauty that the Flats are known for.

2. The Price. Everything on the menu was $10 and under. In fact, the most expensive item was the hamburger. Tacos are $4 each and 2 tacos with some chips to much on is all the meal you need. Tuesdays tacos are only $2 during happy hour. Treat yourself to a $3 when the Buffalo Barge passes by.

I’d be as happy eating inside as outside.

3. The Cocktail Menu. I had my heart set on a Caprinina and it did not disappoint. The menu has all your favorites: margaritas, mojitos, and a good selection of beer. Had we not had 6 kids in tow, we would have stayed at the bar…well, maybe all night.

4. Fun Factor. The outdoor area features a pool table, cornhole, a giant connect four game, building blocks and more to entertain kids both big and small.

5. The Food. It’s not fancy but it’s good. We especially liked the Baja Blue Cod taco with jalapeno slaw, chimmichurri and the Pork al Pastor taco with slow roasted pork and topped with pineapple salsa. We devoured the fundido, a mexican melted cheese dip that though it comes in a bowl, you could imagine in a cup with a straw because it’s that good. Another great, tasty value are the Bols with spanish or brown rice & black beans. Our fav was the Chicken Tinga Bol with queso fresco, pico de gallo, and lime crema.
