Host a Back-to-School Brunch for Your Friends

The stress-free days of waking up late and not having to be anywhere are over.  But just think of all the things you can do once school has started without children in tow. So in celebration of this event, have a mommy brunch with your friends. After taking the kids to the first day of school, invite your friends over for a “Back to School Brunch”.

Cocktails are a must.
Serve mimosas or bellinis. Have some virgin cocktails available too.
Or serve a refreshing fruit infused water, lemonade or ice tea.
Watermelon Spiked (or Not) Lemonade
Grown-Up Frozen Lemonade
Classic Firefly Cocktail
Raspberry Cooler
Tequila Thyme Lemonade

Make some bite-size nibbles.
You can keep it simple. Spread your favorite chutney on small toasts like above;
we used plum chutney and topped with coriander leaves. If you have the inclination to bake something
try
Easy Egg Forentine Muffins, French Toast Bites, or Mini Veggie Fritattas.

Keep it Light.
Simply serve fresh fruit with nuts, chutneys and cheeses. Or try something healthy like our Yogurt Granola Parfaits (below.) Or serve Mason Jar Oatmeal in decorated containers.

Bake a quiche or casserole ahead of time.
Use fresh produce from the farmers’ market and make our Tomato Corn Pie.
Or one of our other favorites:
Potato-Cheddar Quiche
Caramelized Pear & Gorgonzola Quiche

Tomato & Goat Cheese Bake
Ham Hash
Potato, Sausage & Spinach Breakfast Casserole.

Create a pretty table.
Use cut flowers from your garden and arrange in bud vases that you give guests as they leave.
Pull our your silver and linens–your friends deserve it.

Wrap with linens with flower
buds or sprigs of rosemary or thyme.

Send friends home with something pretty.

Enjoy this time with your friends. You deserve it!
