Summit’s All About Fun, Food and Fireworks on the Fourth!

shutterstock_97612109Get ready for Summit’s 69th Annual Fourth of July Celebration! This day-long party will take place at Soldiers Memorial Field, 5 Myrtle Avenue, and will include all of Summit’s traditional events, as well as several new additions including a Food Truck Festival, new entertainment, and evening carnival rides and amusements.

Make sure to be there at 9:45AM for the Flag Raising Ceremony.  Then at 10:00AM the Children’s Decorated Bicycle Parade will take place.  The first annual Food Truck Festival, rides and amusements, as well as children’s entertainment, will continue throughout the afternoon until 1:00PM at which point Memorial Field will close for setup for evening festivities.food truck

Be sure to back at Memorial Field by 6:00PM because event-goers will be able to enjoy evening carnival rides and amusements this year, as well as the Food Truck Festival. Also new, a $10 Bounce Pass  that allows unlimited access to evening rides, bounce houses, and games. Passes will be available for purchase at the event.

Performing on the main stage at 7:45PM this year will be Barbara Harris and the Toys. The 60’s girl group, Barbara Harris and the Toys is well-known for hit records including “A Lover’s Concerto” and “Attack.” Now, Harris will once again take the stage, singing a variety of soul, pop, jazz, and R&B hits.

flag-fireworks2The final event of the evening, the Grand Fireworks Display will begin at 9:15PM.

Free admission. All are welcome.
Please note: Ashland Road closes to traffic @ 6 PM.
Handicapped access will be available at Watchung Place and Tulip Street.
Alcohol and tobacco prohibited.
