Meet Jennifer Pirot: Owner of the Newly Opened Cookie Cutters in Mahwah

A new salon opened in Mahwah last week that caters to smaller clients: Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids. I remember the first time I took my son to get hair cut at the neighborhood barbershop. It was a pretty traumatic experience; his kicking and screaming exhausted us both and he fell asleep on the way home.

At Cookie Cutters, there will surely be no tears. The space is bright, fun and colorful. From the slide and tvs to the fantasy chairs, the space looks more like an indoor playground than a children’s hair salon. In fact, you might have to drag your kids to the car.

Owner, Jennifer Pirot, is a mom of a 9 year old. She explained, “Having a little one myself, I saw a real need for a kids’ hair salon in the area. And I wanted to open a local business to fill that void.” Pirot, who grew up in Dumont, NJ, also runs a media consulting firm. Her husband owns a helicopter flight school–you don’t hear that every day!

When this outdoorsy mom and salon owner is not in the salon, you might find her in the great out doors or at one of her favorite local spots. When we asked her which restaurant was her favorite, she admitted, “Ah, this is a tough one! We love so many but Kinchley’s and the Mason Jar are probably our favorites.”
