Family Time – Dinner Out With The Kids

Karen Latimer, mom of five including 2-year-old twins said, “If I had to pick a favorite, the place that makes us all the happiest, is Andy’s Community Lunch in Midland Park. The intimacy works for us and the girls love the special attention from Andy. The milkshakes are a great treat and the food is consistently good. When dining out with the kids, I want to be somewhere that makes us feel welcome and doesn’t cost a fortune. At this stage, bringing my kids to a more upscale place is kind of like bringing a baby on a plane – I am always so worried that we will disturb others.”

Amy Nidds, mom of three said, “We have a few go-to spots, depending on what we are in the mood for that evening. When we are thinking more upscale, Park West in Ridgewood is our favorite. My boys and I just love the sliders. It’s the best mini burger I’ve ever had! The mini lobster tacos are great too and they have a kid’s menu if your children are craving the basics.  Their liquor license is a bonus for parents craving a drink. When we are going more casual, we have a few favorites – Puzo’s in Ridgewood, Nellie’s in Waldwick and Blue Moon in Wyckoff. Puzo’s has wonderful pasta dishes. Nellie’s has thin-crust pizza that we all just love. My husband and I go for a veggie one while the kids usually stick with plain. And if Mexican food is our vote for dinner, Blue Moon it is. They have all the usual Mexican favorites, a children’s menu and a bar too.”
