The Best Family Budget Website Out There

I know we featured saving money last week but I had to add this one tip on how to manage your household finances. I have recently heard from a few of my friends that Mint.com is the only way you can track the expenses of your family and have everyone held accountable. Personally, the word budget sucks the life right out of me. It may be one of the scariest words my husband uses. I have not yet passed along the Mint.com idea to him for fear I will be living in a world where every dime I spend I will have to record where I spent it. With college educations looming on the horizon we will have to buckle down so I guess I will have to submit to this sooner rather than later. Mint.com shows you easy bar graphs where you have spent your money for the month. It lays out the income for the month and then all your expenses. It will definitely make you more aware of your purchases even in the grocery store. It will stop you from buying all the incidentals you pick up while you are out shopping for something specific. By the way, you have to submit all of your purchases and bills for it to be accurate. As much as this takes the fun out of shopping for anything, it will serve your family better in the long run. Let me know if you use it or plan to. It is free after all.
