How About A Little Tapas?

Located in the heart of Garden City at 931 Franklin Avenue is one of my favorite Tapas Restaurants – Plancha Tapas and Wine Bar.  Four years ago, the owners of Salumi Bar in Massapequa had the good sense to branch out and open a second establishment here in G.C. Even though our town hosts a bevy of restaurants, this is the only Tapas Restaurant -and therefore it is bustling!  A few of my favorites are the  chicharrón – which is crispy pork skin with pepper jam, pickled red onion and mustard seeds as well as the iberico pork tenderloin / pork skirt steak grilled a la plancha, medium rare, with a red-wine-quince sauce. For larger appetites there is the Dry Aged Steak Board with seasonal veggies and the traditional Spanish Paella. I don’t know about you, but I have a very difficult time saying “NO” to a cheese and meat platter! And, since this will be a deliciously sinful meal, you should probably top off the evening with a classic desert -the Chocolote Con Pan – melted dark chocolate and nutella with toast drizzled with olive oil and sea salt. My mouth is watering as I typie this and since they open weekdays at 11:30 am I may have to call a girlfriend and meet her there for a bite!
