10 – When you went out, your kids couldn’t call or text you incessantly asking when you’d be home.

9 – When your kids went out, you couldn’t keep tabs on them, so you didn’t.

8 –  The terms helicopter parent and quality time hadn’t been coined yet because they wouldn’t have made any sense.

7 – When your kids were caught on film doing something bad, the photo developer was the only other adult who saw it.

6 – If you wanted to get your kids off the phone, you picked up the extension.

5 – Children’s sports had not yet become a national pastime.

4 – There was only about 1-2 hours of good TV on a day, specifically, Love Boat followed by Fantasy Island.

3 – When you stated something with authority, your kid couldn’t Google it and call your bluff.

2 – You didn’t need a power point presentation each week to keep track of your children’s extracurricular activities, and parent had yet to become synonymous with chauffeur.

1 – The phrase “What that kid needs is a good smack,” could be taken literally.
