Transitioning Back to School

Hard to believe it’s mid-August right? My head is starting to swim with things to do to get ready for the start of school and activities.

Here are some good tips from an association of school counselors on easing the transition back to school:

– Re-establish bedtime routines as well as mealtimes
– Cut down on screen time
– Encourage your kids to do some quiet games such as puzzles or flashcards
– Buy school supplies early
– Visit the school
– Minimize school shopping woes by only purchasing the necessities. Summer clothes or last spring’s items still work through September usually.
– Designate and clear a place to do homework
– Freeze a few dinners (this one’s to ease parents back in too!)
