This tells the true story of theĀ nine crew members from theĀ 1936 U. S. Olympic team. The book is written from the view point of Joe Rantz, one of the rowers. He tells the story of his difficult childhood and then his shot to make the University of Washington’s prestigious crew team. As he takes you through all the rowers backgrounds, he also tells you how they want to make the U.S. Olympic crew team. The Berlin Olympics were almost boycotted but Hitler covered everything up, leading up to and during the Olympics. It is a very inspiring story during a difficult time for our country. These men from Washington University stunned the world with the outcome. My husband, mother and I all loved it. If you like non-fiction stories, you will enjoy this one.
