New Openings: Going Vegan in Ridgewood at Green Fusion

My plated Curry Bowl.

Colorful and nicely organized in the box.

My husband just went vegan–not vegetarian—vegan! This makes dining out a challenge! So thank god for Ridgewood’s newest vegetarian and vegan addition, Green Fusion. The internationally-inspired menu features entrees that the cover the globe from India to Italy like the Indian-inspired Manhattan Masala ($17) made with grilled, marinated tofu served with creamy tomato sauce. Or the Porto Pasta, a penne served with basil pesto and portobello mushrooms.

We ordered take out and it was fabulous! I don’t eat much meat, but even if you do, the food is so hearty and flavorful you won’t miss you meat. We started with the General Tso’s Cauliflower ($12.50) that was tangy, zesty and sweet. I had the Curry Bowl ($14): grilled, marinated tofu with eggplant, lentils, and glazed pea pods over Turmeric Basmati rice and red cabbage slaw. The portion was very generous (which didn’t stop me from finishing it.) The veggies were fresh and the slaw and pea pods gave it a bit of crunch. My husband had the Naan Sandwich ($12) a stuffed tofu sandwich made with their special  homemade sauce. There were no leftovers; we licked our plates clean. I might actually decide to go vegan myself!
