Shaker Heights Marching Band is Going International!

Shaker Hts Marching band400 high school Shaker Heights High School have their passports ready and are taking their show on an international tour. The band and about 50 parents are on their way to Spain in just a few weeks for Spring Break. They will play in 5 cities: Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, Segovia, and Toledo. Imagine playing in 2,000-year-old Roman Aquaduct or the Madrid Royal Palace!

Shaker’s marching band is the largest school marching band in Ohio–larger than any other high school or college.  Shaker students are required to learn an instrument in 5th and 6th grade. Many students continue their lessons so these students have been playing for years.

This isn’t the first time the band has travelled internationally; they get around! Some past trips have included Australia New Zealand and Turkey. High school marching bands are as common outside of North America.  So Spain is in for a treat.
