What I’m Binge-Watching This Week

This Is Us - I am crazy about the show “This is Us.” It’s just what I needed in my tv repertoire. I have suspense covered (The Man in the High Castle, The Americans); have trash (The Bachelor) but I’d grown weary of some of my other tv dramas.  Mandy Moore plays the mother of “triplets.” I say “triplets” because although Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) play twins, Randall is their adopted African-American son who was born the same day and left at the same hospital. The show flashes between today–when the siblings are 36–and to scenes from the past. Like any children, they question and judge the decisions that there parents have made. Don’t we all at times?

This Is Us - The characters are so sincere, so moving yet all are able to find humor in their lives and situations. I love the intimate relationship between these 3 very different siblings especially since one is adopted. The always stand united. Kate, is my favorite character. I was thrilled to see a woman of her size cast; she’s not just a little chubby; she struggles and suffers from obesity. She’s sweet, genuine and has such grace. And she has a gentleness about her that makes her seem so vulnerable at times that I want to be her friends and protect her! and genuine; she’s truly beautiful.

The show is truly refreshing. I guarantee you’ll love it. You can binge watch episodes at nbc.com. It airs Tuesday at 9pm on NBC.
