Holiday Party-Ready Arms and Legs

Another time saving exercise ideal for the busy Holiday season and just in time for the party circuits. There will be no need to cover up your arms and legs with this toning move. Secure a resistance band around something stable at about mid-torso height. Holding the ends of the band, bring your hands by your side. The band should be taut (no slack). With abs engaged, shoulders held down away from the ears, elbows and knees soft, rise up as high as you can onto the balls of your feet WHILE pressing the band back behind you (palms facing behind you). Hold here for 2-3 seconds and slowly return to start. Repeat 15-20 reps.

Notes: Control the band especially when returning to start position so it’s not springing back. Breathe regularly. If you don’t have a band you can use hand weights or anything heavy you can hold.

Easier: Do fewer reps; lengthen the band, stand closer to your band.

Harder: Increase your reps; shorten the band or stand further away from band, hold the calf raise (on your toes) while you pulse the arm movement for 20-30 reps.
