5 Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar has been well known for its health and home remedies. It is made in a two-step process. Crushed apples are mixed with yeast to ferment. Then they are mixed with special bacteria that turn it into vinegar – Apple Cider Vinegar.

  1. Lowers Blood Sugars – It has been proven to help lower blood sugar levels through increased insulin sensitivity both after a high carb meal and during fasting times. High blood sugars are associated with pre-diabetes, diabetes and other health concerns.
  2. Lowers Cholesterol – Studies have shown that apple cider vinegar contains a chemical that helps keep blood LDL (“bad” cholesterol) and blood triglycerides lowered which then decreases risk for heart disease.
  3. Soothe a Sore Throat – Apple cider vinegar is acidic and is a know germ-buster. If bacteria are causing the sore throat, take a TSP or two in water or honey to soothe a sore throat and fight the bad germs.
  4. Can Clear Sinuses – Potassium in apple cider vinegar can help break up mucus thus clearing up congestion and stuffed noses. Some feel it can even help with allergies by clearing out the mucus.
  5. Decrease Muscle Cramps – Speaking of Potassium, this electrolyte works with sodium and calcium for effective muscle and nerve stimulation in the body. When Potassium is low, muscle fibers have a harder time “relaxing” and that’s why we cramp.

For a daily dose, take 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar mixed in juice or water, or use as a salad dressing or veg dip.
