Spice Acres

Spice Acres FarmIf you’re looking for a picturesque day trip in the country, take a drive out to Spice Acres. Managed by Ben Bebenroth, chef and owner of Cleveland’s Spice Kitchen + Bar and Spice of Life Catering Co, and farm manager Andrea Heim, the farm is located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park bordering the Cleveland Metroparks Brecksville Reservation. Combine it with scenic train ride through the Cuyahoga Valley.

You’ll see mixed vegetables, including many heirloom varieties, three-season lettuces, hundreds of laying hens, hand-cut flowers, and heritage-breed pigs. They have the region’s only local fig and ginger crops. Their produce can be found at Spice Kitchen + Bar, along with local farmers’ markets. Weekends, fresh eggs, flowers and some veggies are often for sale at the end of the driveway; check their twitter page before you go. They also offer guided farm tours. For tours, contact Andrea@SpiceAcres.com for pricing and availability.

Spice Acres is accessible through the north at Route 82 and Riverview Road.
