April Fools’ Day Pranks to Play on Your Family

Kids love pranks, and since I dropped the ball with the leprechaun this year, I am going to step up my game for April 1st. But, I like simple, so here are some easy ways to get the best of your kids.

1. Change the password on your Netflix account…
…and tell them you forgot to pay the bill too many times, and you can never have Netflix again.

2. Bed Swap
While your kids are sleeping, switch them and put them into each other’s bed.

3. Freeze their cereal.
Put a bowl of cereal with milk and a spoon in the fridge before you go to bed, and then set it out for them in the morning.

4. Can’t find the end.
We got this one from Good Housekeeping and it couldn’t be more timely. Spray down the loose edge of the toilet paper roll with a bit of hairspray — they can roll and roll, but they won’t get the loose edge free!

Or simply remove the toilet paper from the bathrooms and tell them you ran out.

5. Make them a surprising lunch.
My kids have lots of these fake bugs lying around to scare me. I plan to embed a surprise bug or two in their lunch today.

6. Change the settings on their phone.
My kids do this to me ALL the time so this is a perfect time to get back to them. They change basic words like “yes” and “no” to ‘I’m stupid.” Pick works they use all the time and chance them to “LOVE YOU” or “MY MOM IS THE BEST.” To do it, on their phone, go to “General” settings, then “keyboard” and then “text replacement.”

7. Change their ring tone.
Change their ring tone to something silly like a minion hello or darth fader breathing.

8. Plastic wrap the top of their shampoo bottle
Cover the hole where the shampoo comes out with plastic wrap and reattach the top.

9. Toilet surprise.
Tape a surprising photo on the toilet bowl.

10. Put bubble wrap under a throw rug or the rug in their room. Watch them jump.

11. Cut a brown piece of construction paper into block E’s,
put them in a tin with foil on top and tell them you made brown-Es.

12. Put a “for sale” sign in your front yard.

Share any ideas you have with us.
We’d love to hear them … or, send some pictures of the expression on your kids faces!
