SHOPPING FOR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES IN SUMMIT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SCARY!

scaryYou’ve spent hours surfing the web for costumes, but you can’t be sure of the quality or the sizes. You’ve gone down to the highway and come home overwhelmed and empty handed because the big box stores are unorganized and have been picked over. This year shop downtown Summit for your Halloween costumes, and you’ll have nothing to be frightened about!

The Toy Professor, 430 Springfield Avenue, has a great selection of children’s costumes – from crusader and ninja, to astronaut and doctor. They also stock a very glittery selection of tutus, boas and the like for the little diva. Prices run from around $10 to $32, depending on the accessory and outfit.

The Paper Source, 359 Springfield Avenue, provides a more low-key and hands on approach to masquerading. Look for their packets of masks and prop kits for adults and children. The Woodland Critter Mask Kit ($14.50) and the Day of the Dead Mask Kit ($15.95) allow you to create masks and incorporate your own special touch. They also stock photo prop kits ($14.95) that can transform you with quirky glasses, hilarious lips, surly mustaches and more!

All little boys and girls love Melissa and Doug toys and puzzles, and now you can find Melissa and Doug costumes at The scary 2Papery, 379 Springfield Avenue. The children’s costumes are mostly traditional and all well made – the cowboy, the policeman, the waitress and many more (all $29.95.) You can also find Top This, Melissa and Doug’s box of five cool hats to “top” off a costume or inspire an entirely new one – pirate hat, crown, cowboy hat, fire chief’s helmet, and rocker fedora ($29.95.)

Summit also has it’s own pop-up Halloween store, Gotham Costumes, 333 Springfield Avenue. This large space is filled with adult and children’s costumes, as well as plenty of spooky decorations. Moms, Dads and kids will all be able to find a costume here. The walls are lined with costumes for trick-or-treaters of all ages, as well as wigs, accessories and a large selection of rubber masks including Hillary Clinton and Chris Christie ($19.99.)

So, no matter where you shop for your Halloween costume in downtown Summit, you can be assured there will be no tricks…only treats!
