S. Egidio: Worth it

s. EgidioDo you remember those curious signs with quotes like “Life is a combination of magic and prosciutto” in the boarded-up space on Broad Street? They were funny and strange and definitely peaked my interest about what was happening behind the wooden planks. Well, the wondering is over. Ridgewood’s newest restaurant S.Egidio, with its wood-fired pizza oven – imported directly from Naples – and a wonderfully warm and friendly atmosphere, might be my family’s new favorite spot. We stopped in last night to sample the excellent salumi, plus a cheese board, an arugula salad and several 12-inch pizzas. Everything was delicious. Simple, authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients all served in a rustic-chic setting. The pizzas are Neapolitan-style, with great mozzarella and amazing, crisp-tender crust. Oh so good. We’ll be back.
