Halloween Happenings in Summit!

Everyone  – and their mummy  – will be in attendance at this year’s Halloween happenings in Summit!  With way more Treats than Tricks, Halloween in Summit is filled with fun events from parades, to outdoor movies, to a final pumpkin launch after the spookiness ends!

The final Sunday Funday of the Summit Farmers Market will be Pumpkin Painting from 11:00AM-1:00PM on October 23 (rain date October 30). Small pumpkins will be available for purchase for $2 each at the booth, or you can buy your squash from any of the farmers selling them. Paint and supplies are provided free.

pathThe Annual PAL Halloween Parade on October 22 lets all your little goblins march in their Halloween costumes proudly through the streets of downtown Summit.  The parade will feature plenty of ghoulish goodies, spook-tacular live entertainment, and a chilling costume contest. The parade will begin marching at 3:00PM from 25 DeForest Avenue to the Village Green, 356 Broad Street.

nf-scream-on-the-green-2016The Scream on the Green Outdoor Movie will take place on Friday night, October 28 on the Village Green  There will be a bonfire, and you can sip on some fresh apple cider, and enjoy Maleficent” on the big screen at the Village Green, 356 Broad Street. Don’t miss the pre-movie dance party, set to begin at 6:00PM. Movie begins at dark.

Take a tour through the Y graveyard and Zombie Land where you will meet some scary and interesting characters. Then you have a chance to meet the Mad Scientist in his laboratory. Once the tour is complete, or if you just want to skip the scary part, head on over to the gym for some Halloween games, arts and crafts and activities. Prizes for all.

75e0b17d-08d5-4aaf-86b6-1693274e37b7On the big day itself there will be Trick or Treating in Downtown Summit from 2:30PM through 5:00PM.  On Monday, October 31 children and their families are invited to don their costumes and visit the downtown businesses for treats.

And when all the candy is gone and the costumes are put away come to the PAL Annual Pumpkin Launch on Sunday, November 6 from 10:00AM until 4:00PM at Summit Transfer Station, 40 New Providence Road.  You can bring your pumpkins to the Summit Transfer Station and launch them.

 

All these great events are free and open to the public!
