Fall Trends-Must Have Pieces And Where You Can Find Them At A Reasonable Price

This fall there are a lot of new exciting trends.  I am a firm
believer in investing in fashion staples and spending less on the trendier pieces that might go out of style in a season.

The staples for the Fall/Winter season  are:

fitted Black Blazer
dark rinse jean (dressier for night)
medium rinse jean
fitted white shirt
classic trench
basic layering tees, tanks in blk, white and gray
2 pullover sweaters in merino wool or cashmere in classic colors like blk, navy, camel and gray
2 cardigans in basic hues like blk, navy, camel and gray.
little blk dress
ballet flat or loafer
riding boot
wellie boot
blk pencil skirt
blk trouser

With these basics in your closet you have the fundamentals. Now you can add on the trendy items and have fun.  Some of these are:

Blouses:

Sheer blouses are right on trend this fall. Pair them with colored jeans or your skinny black pant for a polished look. I love any blouse from Joie but, that will cost you $200. Try the Lofts Club Collar Henley blouse for $49.50 or Kristin Dahl’s(pictured above) ruffle open front for $68.

Booties:

Assuming you own classic riding boots head out to Lord and Taylor or Aldo(pictured here) for a great selection of affordable and stylish booties which are this seasons shoe must have. I love “Josseline” from Aldo($100) in taupe suede which can be worn with jeans, dresses and colored bottoms.

Leather:

Touches of leather can be found in all stores this fall. Biker jackets, flared mini skirts and skinny pants are among the most popular. Don’t fret because vegan leather is everywhere and will not break the bank. My favorite place to shop less costly leather is Piperlime. Marshall’s has a great selection of vegan leather right now. Zara, Banana Republic, H&M and Ann Taylor also are fully stocked with leather items at great prices.

Cobalt Blue:

This vivid shade of blue was on runways for fall and is now showcased in department and specialty stores. Adding a pop of this electrifying shade will instantly update your look. Replace last years cream blouse with your cobalt blue. Pair with J. Crew black “Minnie” pant($89.50) and a wedge boot and you are hip and current. My favorite is Loft’s Henley (49.50 pictured here) in Sassy Blue. If you love fashion maven Olivia Palermo’s style then go to Lord and Taylor and pick up Anne Klein’s cobalt sure pumps. Olivia sports her blue Manolo’s with everything from little black dresses to cargos.

Flared Short Skirts:

The focus this autumn on skirts is simple fit and flare shapes that look so cute with sweatshirt silhouettes and boxy shapes. No need to spend on versions from Vine or Theory when Old Navy has a  ponte knit version for $26.94 and Zara has a fitted mini for $59. Throw on your new booties with this and you are spot on for the season.
