Croutons

prepared by and photo by Emily Doscher

These croutons are really easy to make.  I use them in soups and salads.

Size: makes about 3 cups

Ingredients:
3 cups or so of bread, cut into 1? cubes, or smaller
2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
2 tbsp butter
salt and pepper
garlic powder

Directions:

Melt the butter and olive oil in a heavy skillet on medium heat.

When the butter is melted, add the cubed bread.

Stir and turn the bread frequently until it is golden on all sides (about 5 minutes).

Season to taste with salt, pepper and garlic powder… that’s it!
