3 Ridgewood Boy Scouts being promoted to Eagle Scouts

Eagle Scouts AwardTips From Town is proud to announce that the Ridgewood Boy Scout Troop 5 will be promoting three Boy Scouts to Eagle Scouts Monday, January 11th at the “Eagle Court of Honor” in Ridgewood, NJ. Brendan Cherrey, Christian Seremetis and Dylan Hansen, all from Ridgewood, will receive the prestigious Eagle Scout award.

Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting. In order to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the scout must have progressed through six ranks of scouting, completed 21 merit badges, and serve six months in a troop leadership position. The Scout must also plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for the community. The final requirement to achieve Eagle Scout is to successfully complete the Eagle Scout Board of Review.

The Eagle Scout rank is achieved by only 7% of all Scouts nationwide and it’s considered a prestigious and hard-earned achievement.

Their Projects
Brendan led a project to build a climbing structure for San Clemente Goats at the Van Saun County Zoo. In addition, he made enrichment toys for the monkeys.

Christian led a project to build an outdoor classroom at Benjamin Franklin Middle School for teachers to use to enhance the students’ learning experience. The project consisted of four recycled-plastic picnic tables, each 6 feet in diameter, and approximately 70 feet of gardening.

Dylan led a project to collect used and unwanted baseball and softball equipment in Ridgewood with the help of Ridgewood Baseball and Softball Association. Then, with the help of Pitch In For Baseball, shipped the equipment to a Third World Country with less privileges.

Ridgewood Troop 5 is sponsored by First Presbyterian Church.
