Ridgewood’s Ali Stroker Nominated for a Tony

Ali Stroker has raised the bar again. She and fellow cast member, Damon Daunno, were both nominated for Tonys for their roles in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!. Stroker, who plays Annie Ado, is nominated for a Tony for featured actress in a musical. Playing at the Circle in the Square Theater, Oklahoma! is also nominated for a total of 8 Tonys, including best revival of a musical.

In the New York Times, Stroker reacted to her nomination, “This show exists for people to see things different. And to be able to do this role — and to be an actress in a wheelchair — it feels like I have arrived.”

The Tonys will be held on June 9th, and we are rooting hard for our homegrown Broadway star.

Warning: It will make you want to run out and see the show.
