Guided Adventure Hikes

Explore many of the region’s most spectacular mountain ranges with a guided hike. New Jersey and New York have gorgeous mountain vistas, pristine lakes, rushing streams, wild rivers, and roaring waterfalls.  These outfitters offer hiking day trips on local trails and famous ones like the Appalachian Trail. An inspirational and healthy way to get outdoors on a Saturday or Sunday with your family or friends.

One of the largest adventure groups in New Jersey and New York, Living Adventure Tours is about getting out in nature and enjoying its surroundings in a safe and social environment. Whether you’re into hiking, mountain biking, road riding, camping, kayaking, or snowshoeing, they cover it all. Possible trips include a Bike and Brew Trip to a Historic Brewery in Long Valley, NJ and a Family Hike in Bear Mountain, NY.

Wild Earth Adventures offers guided hiking and walking trips year-round, as well as wilderness camping, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trips, visiting some of the wildest and most beautiful parks and natural areas in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Fall hikes include a 7 mile hike in Black Rock Forest, Storm King State Park, New York and a 5 mile easy hike in Wawayanda State Park, Hewitt, New Jersey.

NJ Adventure Tours will guide your custom private hiking trip to some of the most beautiful areas of NJ. Guided tours include lunch with your package. Guided hiking tours go until there is enough snowfall to snowshoe. Half day trip or full day trips are available. Half day trips can last up to 4.5 hours and can accommodate up to 20 people per outing. Families and Pets are welcome. Currently hikes are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Storm King Adventure Tours is your one-stop destination for Hudson Valley outdoor adventures. They can customize your day trip or weekend activities, and make sure you and your family have a safe and exciting time. They conduct hikes when a minimum of four people have made reservations. Hikes are approximately three hours long and $25 a person. Try a Scenic Hike or Chi Hiking and Yoga.

The Palisades Interstate Park on the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge is a spectacular place to stay active year round, with 25 miles of trails for the experienced or leisure hiker. Join one of the free hikes. “Southern Shore Trail Hike for Dogs” is about 2 mi., 1.5 hrs. over flat, easy trails. “Autumn Nature Hike for Kids” is a guided hike for children for about 3 mi., 2 hrs. over easy trails with some slopes.

Adventures For Women caters to women over 18 and those who just don’t want to be in the woods alone.  AFW is a non-profit guided hiking group for women only that started as business 22 years ago. A membership, which is only a small fee, entitles you to day hikes and bike rides. They also host City Paths which are day excursions to parks, museums and neighborhoods of our metropolitan areas. City Paths are “urban hikes”, a day of walking and sightseeing often includes a lunch or dinner in a local restaurant.

The New York/New Jersey Trail Conference doesn’t run hikes themselves, but for a small fee you can join their club and receive “Trail Walker,” their bi-monthly newspaper. It’s loaded with hikes run by their 85 hiking group members. Their website offers hiker discussion groups and links to clubs, parks, hikes, maps and campgrounds.
