Thanks to 12 Year Old Emma Zapata, the 4th of July Parade is a Go!

Thanks to 12-year-old resident Emma Zapata, the 66th consecutive Fourth of July Parade is a go! Emma wrote a letter to Chatham Borough Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz with an idea of how the parade could be held with social distancing: create an alternative route and let residents watch from their lawns!

Mayor Kobylarz read the letter at the Chatham Council meeting and said he would be trying out her idea for the modified parade. Mayor Kobylarz also named Emma Zapata honorary parade Grand Marshal for this year’s parade! She and her family will get to ride in a fire trucks during the parade. Thank you, Emma, for your brilliant idea!
