Running Like the Wind!

OlympiaMartinRidgewoodTrackCarleen Jeffers, Kelly Cleary and Abby Taylor and coach Jacob Brown have moved on. But the girls’ cross-country team in Ridgewood is still running like the wind! Under new direction with head coach Steve Opremcak Ridgewood won the Big North Freedom meet for the 5th time; the Lou Molino Bergen Meet of Champions for a 5th straight year;  the North 1, Group 4 sectional for the 4th time; AND made it to the State Meet of Champions where they finished 4th! Now, for the 5th straight time, Ridgewood cross-country team has been awarded Team of the Year by The Record. That’s a lot to celebrate!

Olympia Martin, only a Junior, placed number 2 in New Jersey! Samantha Halvorsen and Leah Rosenfeld came back strong after enduring some injuries last year.  Meghan Adams finished as the 3rd 2014 returnee. Newcomers to the varsity team, 2ophomore Hannah Fishbein, freshman Cassie Keyes and junior Sophia Sheehy along with new assistant coach Tom Hughes kept the team on their toes! Congratulations, girls, on an awesome season! You’ve made Ridgewood proud!
